THE GREY SQUIRREL

 

This is a grey squirrel. It came from North America and it was first introduced to Britain in  the 1870s. Unluckily it has became a threat to the survival of the native red one. Thanks to its "dimensions", it has more chances to survive during winter time and because it is a carrier of  the Squirrel pox virus, for which the red squirrels have no immunity,  the native red species  are in danger of extintion while the grey ones grow out of proportion.
